(Mal_1:2-3) "I have loved Jacob but Esau I have hated". God is sovereign in his feelings and election c.f. Rom_9:10-13

(Mal_1:10) God wishes someone would shut the doors of temple rather than offer blemished sacrifices. Will not accept such from their hands.

(Mal_1:11) From the rising to setting sun God shall be worshiped. In every place, incense (prayers) shall be offered among nations. 1Ti_2:8

(Mal_1:14) Cursed be the deceiver who offers blemished animals. The LORD is a great King whose name will be feared among the nations.

(Mal_2:3) If priests do not listen to rebuke then God will send a curse upon them & spread dung on their faces making them very unclean.

(Mal_2:4-6) Aaron feared, was in awe, had true instruction in his mouth, walked in peace/righteousness and turned many from iniquity.

(Mal_2:7) The lips of a priest should guard knowledge and people should seek instruction from his mouth for he is the messenger of the LORD.

(Mal_2:14-15) The LORD is witness between husband & wife. Marriage is a covenant. Go desires godly children. Faithlessness = violence.

(Mal_3:1-2) The Lord will suddenly come to his temple. He is like a refiner’s fire and like fullers’ soap. Who can endure that day?

(Mal_3:4) The Lord’s work will make it possible for people to worship God acceptably.

(Mal_3:6) It is because the LORD does not change in his compassion and mercy that we are not consumed by his wrath.

(Mal_3:16) Those who feared LORD spoke with one another. The LORD paid attention and heard them. Names written in a book of remembering.

(Mal_3:17) "They shall be mine, says the LORD of hosts, in the day when I make up my treasured possession". Exo_19:5; Tit_2:14; 1Pe_2:9

(Mal_4:1) The day is coming that will burn like a furnace. All wicked will burn as stubble without any root or branches being left to them.

(Mal_4:2) But for those who fear God the sun of righteousness shall rise with healing in its wings. They will leap like calves from a stall.

(Mal_4:4-5) Remember the law of Moses. Elijah the prophet will be sent before the great and awesome day of the LORD comes.

(Mal_4:6) A lack of repentance before that Day would result in God devoting the land to destruction – like Canaanites.

(Mal_4:6) The last word in the Old Testament is "herem" meaning "devoted to destruction". A Saviour and a New Covenant needed!
