(Isaiah 1:6) Sin is like a diseased body.

(Isa 1:3,8,9) The ox and donkey knows more than Israel. Jerusalem left as a hut in a field. Almost like Sodom & Gomorrah.

(Isa 2:2) All nations shall receive instruction from the temple mountain raised higher than all other mountains.

(Isa 2:19f) Hiding in caves from terror of the LORD like in Revelation 6. Idols of gold and silver thrown to rodents.

(Isa 3) The daughters of Zion were beautiful and vain and shall become clothed as slaves.

(Isa 4) A holy people recorded for life – washed and cleansed by a spirit of fire. God’s pillar of cloud and fire shall be over them.

(Isa 4:6) A shade, shelter, refuge from heat. C.f. Revelation 7:16

(Isa 5:1f) The Parable of the Vineyard – dug,cleared,planted – hedge removed, wall broken, trampled, laid waste, briers and thorns, no rain.

(Isa 5:20) Woe to those who call evil good &good evil, put darkness for light & light for darkness, put bitter for sweet & sweet for bitter!

(Isa 6:1) In the year that the king died he saw the King! Seraphim, holy, shaking. Unclean lips atoned. Fat hearts, heavy ears, smeared eyes

(Isa 7:2,12) The hearts of Judah shake like trees in the wind. Ahaz doesn’t want a sign because doesn’t want to obey. Immanuel – God with us

(Isa 8:6f) Judah rejects waters of Shiloah (God) so God will flood, judge and devastate them with the River of Assyria.

(Isa 8:20f) Light comes from the Law and the Prophets. Enraged rejection means distress, thrust into thick darkness and gloom.

(Isa 9:1f) Galilean tribes were first to face exile to Assyria (darkness/gloom). To them will come a great light – Jesus’ Galilean ministry

(Isa 9:6f) A son with government on shoulder His name: Wonderful Counselor Mighty God and Everlasting Father Prince of Peace.

(Isa 10:12) When the Lord has finished all his work on Mount Zion he will punish the arrogant heart of the king of Assyria.

(Isa 10:21f) The bulk of Israel’s sands and stars will be rejected but a remnant shall return to the Mighty God.

(Isa 11:1-2) Spirit of the LORD will rest on him – wisdom, power – and a delight in the fear of the LORD.

(Isa 11:3-4) Righteous decisions made for poor. Wicked struck with rod of his mouth and his breath shall kill like Rev 19.

(Isa 11:6-9) Peace in creation – Eden restored. Earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.

(Isa 11:10,14) All nations shall submit to his instruction & rule. God will gather all his people. His people will inherit the whole earth.

(Isa 12:5) Isaiah uses lots of Exodus motifs "Sing praises to the LORD, for he has done gloriously" recalls song of Moses (Ex 15:1;Rev 15:3)

(Isa 12:2) The Lord is my strength and my song and he has become my salvation (Exodus 15:2). Future salvation like past saving c.f. Rev 15

(Isa 13) Day of the LORD – destruction, woman in labor, wrath, heavenly lights go dark, earth shaken, wild animals will live there.

(Isa 14:1f,7) Sojourners will join and attach to Israel. God’s people will defeat their enemies. There will be singing.

(Isa 14:14) I will sit on the mount of assembly in the far north but you are brought down to Sheol, to the far reaches of the pit.

(Isa 16:1) Edom will send lambs as tribute to the ruler and Moab will be ruled by the house of David.

(Isa 17:14) The nations will pass away in the night.

(Isa 18:7) Ethiopia will send tribute to Mount Zion.

(Isa 19:1) The LORD returns to Egypt in his chariot and the idols remember last time and tremble. (19:5) Sea is dried up again.

(Isa 19) Egypt, Assyria & Israel all worshiping the LORD.

(Isa 20) Isaiah’s nakedness a sign of judgment.

(Isa 22:11f) Didn’t look to God who planned events, didn’t weep and mourn but instead ate, drank and rejoiced.

(Isa 24:1) Behold, the LORD will empty the earth and make it desolate, and he will twist its surface and scatter its inhabitants.

(Isa 24:14f) West, east and coast lands shall shout, give glory and sing songs of praise to God.

(Isa 24:19f) The earth is utterly broken & split apart. The earth is violently shaken. Sways like a hut, falls, will not rise again.

(Isa 24:21f) Will punish host of heaven & kings of earth. Gather prisoners in a pit; shut in prison, after many days they will be punished.

(Isa 25) On this mountain a feast of rich food of life. Shroud of death swallowed up, tears wiped away, reproach of all peoples taken away.

(Isa 26:19f) The dead shall live, their bodies rise, those who dwell in the dust shall awake and sing for joy! Wrath shall pass away.

(Isa 27:1) Leviathan, the dragon serpent of the sea, shall be slain.

(Isa 27:6) God’s people will be like a plant rooted, blossoming, sending forth shoots and filling the whole world with fruit.

(Isa 27:13) On that day a great trumpet will be blown, those lost in Assyria & Egypt will worship on the holy mountain at Jerusalem. Rapture

(Isa 28:11,21) God will use people of strange lips and foreign tongues to speak to his people in judgment – a strange and alien work.

(Isa 29:6) God visits his people to save – thunder, earthquake, great wind and storm, devouring fire. e.g. Revelation 11:19, 16:18

(Isa 29:18f) The deaf shall hear, the blind shall see out of gloom and darkness, the meek shall have joy, the poor shall praise.

(Isa 30:7,15) Egypt’s help is worthless and empty. Repentance, rest, quietness and trust is a better strength for salvation.

(Isa 30:20-21) Israel’s Teacher will no longer be hidden but seen – a voice speaking words, "This is the way, walk in it."

(Isa 30:33) Topheth, a place of burning, pyre deep & wide, fire & wood in abundance, breath of YHWH kindles like stream of sulfur – hell !

(Isa 31:1f) Woe to those who rely on Egyptian horses and chariots rather than look to the Holy One of Israel who is wise and makes disaster.

(Isa 32) King will reign in righteousness as sheltering rock. Desolation until Spirit is poured from on high – people changed, land fruitful

(Isa 33:5-6) The LORD will be their justice, righteousness, strength, salvation, wisdom and knowledge. The fear of LORD is Zion’s treasure.

(Isa 33:14f) Who can dwell with God the consuming fire and everlasting burnings? The righteous can.

(Isa 34:4) Sky rolled up and stars fall like fig leaves c.f. Revelation 6:13-14. Land flows with blood c.f. Revelation 14:20.

(Isa 34) OT shadow of hell. Edom becomes burning pitch and sulphur. Day and night fire not quenched. Smoke goes up forever.

(Isa 35) Blind see, deaf hear, lame leap, mute sing. Creation restored. The Way of Holiness – no lions or fools.

(Isa 35:10) Ransomed of the LORD shall return and come to Zion with singing, everlasting joy, sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

(Isa 36:2) The conduit of the upper pool was where Ahaz decided to trust Assyria rather than God. Now it is site of Assyrian invasion (7:3).

(Isa 36:16) Peace is enjoying one’s own vine, fig tree and cistern. But how is that ends achieved through submitting to God or Assyria?

(Isa 37:35,38) 300 years later God still protects Jerusalem for David’s sake. When Assyrian king prays his gods fail to protect his life.

(Isa 38:17) For my welfare that I had great bitterness. In love you delivered my life from the pit. You cast all my sins behind your back.

(Isa 39:8) The word of the LORD spoken is always good.

(Isa 40) Comfort, speak tenderly, a voice in wilderness, grass withers, flowers fade but Behold your God comes.

(Isa 40:28f) The everlasting Creator God does not faint or grow weary. He renews the strength of his people. Eagle wings.

(Isa 41:7) An idol has to be nailed down so it doesn’t fall. Contrast with the God who leads his people thru wilderness & provides waters.

(Isa 41:21f) Yahweh proves himself by explaining past events, predicting future ones and controlling the circumstances. Idols cannot.

(Isa 42:1,3,4) Behold my servant bruised reeds, smoldering wicks. Coastlands will wait for his torah.

(Isa 42:6-7) A covenant for peoples, light for nations, release prisoners from blindness in dark dungeons.

(Isa 42:18f) Israel is a blind and deaf servant of the LORD who is plundered and hidden in prisons.

(Isa 43:2,7) When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you. Made for his glory

(Isa 44:3) For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour my Spirit upon your offspring.

(Isa 44:6) The LORD, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts: "I am the first and I am the last; besides me there is no god.

(Isa 44:26f) Cyrus is named over 150 years before the end of the exile as the one who will end the exile. Called Shepherd and Anointed.

(Isa 45:7) I form light and create darkness, I make well-being and create calamity, I am the LORD, who does all these things.

(Isa 45:22f) Turn and be saved all the ends of the earth, every knee bow, every tongue swear allegiance, justified and glorified.

(Isa 46:1-3) The Babylonian idols have to be carried by weary beasts of burden whereas God carries his people since they were ‘in his womb’

(Isa 47:8) Babylon tries to be a counterfeit God. "I am and there is none other’ This has been what God has been saying.

(Isa 48) Judgment on Israel, judgment on Babylon, redemption for some.

(Isa 49) The servant is Israel ministering to Israel. Formed from the womb. He suffers. He is a covenant to the people. Assigns inheritances

(Isa 49:9-10) Sets prisoners free from darkness and cares for them thru wilderness. Hunger,thirst,sun,springs – fulfilled in Revelation 7:16

(Isa 50:2) God does not have a short arm!

(Isa 504,:6-9) Knows how to sustain the weary with a word. Is himself taught and in obedience the servant suffers for us.

(Isa 51:3) The Promised Land, especially Zion, will be like Eden!

(Isa 51:5) Coastlands wait for the LORD’s arm.

(Isa 52:1,3,10) Put on your beautiful garments like a bride. Redeemed not with money but by God’s bared arm – his power.

(Isa 53) a man of sorrows, smitten by God, wounded our transgressions, lamb to slaughter, cut off land living, see life, many made righteous

(Isa 54:5,7) Your maker is your husband. For a brief moment I deserted you but with great compassion I will gather you.

(Isa 54:9) Like days of Noah, I swore to him so I swear to you I will not be angry, rebuke, love not depart, covenant of peace not removed.

(Isa 54:11-13) Zion’s foundations and walls will be precious stones c.f. Revelation 21. Zion’s children will be taught by the LORD.

(Isa 55:1) Come everyone who thirsts to the waters Revelation 22:17. Higher ways & thoughts. God’s word not empty. Cypress replaces thorns.

(Isa 56) The foreigners & eunuchs who keep sabbath brought to holy mountain and their worship accepted in house of prayer for all nations.

(Isa 56:5) To eunuchs I will give within my temple and its walls a memorial c.f. Rev 3:12 Him I will make a pillar in the temple of my God.

(Isa 57:13,21) A collection of idols carried off by wind. Take refuge in God and one possesses & inherits land/holy mountain. Contrite heart

(Isa 58:7,13) God likes the homeless being brought into your family. Doesn’t like idle talk on the Sabbath.

(Isa 59:17) He put on righteousness as a breastplate, helmet of salvation; vengeance for clothing, wrapped himself in zeal as a cloak.

(Isa 59:19f) …his glory from rising of the sun; he will come like rushing stream which the wind of the LORD drives. Redeemer come to Zion

(Isa 60) Gates shall not be shut. The sun shall be no more your light by day. LORD is light. Days of mourning shall be ended. Rev 21:23-25

(Isa 61:1) Spirit of the Lord GOD anointed me to bring good news to the poor; sent to bind up brokenhearted, proclaim liberty to captives.

(Isa 62:5,2) … as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall your God rejoice over you. Given a new name.

(Isa 63:3) God trod the winepress of his wrath and their lifeblood spattered on his garments. Revelation

(Isa 64:1) Oh that you would rend the heavens and come down, that the mountains might quake at your presence– Oh that you would save us.

(Isa 64:6) We have all become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment.

(Isa 64:8) But now, O LORD, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hand.

(Isa 65:17) A new heavens, a earth & Jerusalem. Former things gone-no mourning, no frustrating curse, lions and lambs. Serpent eats dust.

(Isa 65:22) … for like the days of a tree shall the days of my people be, and my chosen shall long enjoy the work of their hands.

(Isa 66:2) But this is the one to whom I will look: he who is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at my word.

(Isa 66:15) Behold, the LORD will come in fire and his chariots like whirlwind, to render his anger and his rebuke with flames of fire.

(Isa 66:22f) From moon to moon and from Sabbath to Sabbath, all flesh shall come to worship in the new heaven and earth.

(Isa 66:24) God’s people will go out of city & look on dead bodies of rebels, worm not die, fire not quenched, an abhorrence to all flesh.
